Hitachi Industrial Products, Ltd. has received an order for centrifugal compressor to be supplied to HVO* plant planned by LG Chem, Ltd., a leading chemical manufacturer in South Korea. The plant will be located at the company’s naphtha cracking center (NCC) in the Daesan Industrial Complex in South Korea. This project is part of LG Chem's initiative to achieve a decarbonized society.
The plant is expected to process approximately 312,000 tons of renewable bio-feedstock annually, with completion scheduled for 2027.

About HVO
HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil):A next-generation biofuel made from non-edible plant materials such as used cooking oil. Known for its low melting point, it is gaining attention as a fuel for cold regions, jet fuel, and as a raw material for chemicals. As the mandatory use of environmentally friendly aviation fuel and diesel expands in major countries around the world, the demand for HVO is significantly increasing.

Background

To reach Net Zero Emissions by 2050, carbon neutrality is key factor to the chemical industry. LG Chem is focusing on the development of renewable energy and sustainable products, with the HVO plant positioned as a central facility in this strategy. Hitachi’s centrifugal compressor will play a critical role in ensuring stable operations at the HVO plant and reducing its environmental impact.

Achievements

With this order, Hitachi will further strengthen its presence in the South Korean market while contributing to the realization of decarbonization solutions for HVO plant.

Hitachi Industrial Products will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by providing products and services that meet the expectations of our customers.
