Hitachi Industrial Products, Ltd. received an order from Singapore Refining Company, the largest comprehensive refining company in Singapore (hereinafter referred to as "SRC") for the motorization project of the existing steam turbine driven Hitachi compressor under de-carbonization policy.
Singapore is the first country in Southeast Asia to introduce Carbon Pricing Act, which imposes the tax for producing carbon dioxide (CO2).
Now Singaporean government has decided to increase five times of the tax price in 2024 (currently $5/tons from 2019 to 2023 and became $25/tons after 2024).
By the implementation of Carbon Pricing Act, SRC got the idea to change the driver of the existing compressor from the steam turbine to the motor, which will decrease the amount of steam and reduce the CO2 producing amount.
Hitachi have good supply records of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors for SRC.
Based on a good partnership established through the maintenance and after services for the existing compressors, we have sincerely responded to the request of SRC for the operation case studies, and have proposed an optimal modification and a high-performance centrifugal compressor.
By providing total integrated engineering for revamping existing compressors with modification of compressor internal and a new motor, which serve as the core technology of the plant, we will contribute to the achievement of our customers' business goals and support further business enhancement.
